We are really looking forward to welcoming all pupils  back to school. Here are some updates to give us all reasons to be very positive as our re-opening date draws closer.

Two new teachers

Mr. Fearghal Hughes and Ms. Sonia Henry are set to re-join our teaching staff. Mr. Hughes will teach 4th Class and Ms. Henry will teach Senior Infants. Both teachers were appointed recently following an open recruitment process.  As you know already, Ms. Christine Hennigan will also join our school as the new teacher for one of our 3rd Classes. These appointments brings our teaching staff to 16.

Inspection report coming soon

The Inspectorate of Department of Education and Skills will publish an inspection report on the work of our school very shortly.  This report follows a school inspection earlier in the year. The report was delayed because of the Covid-19 school closures. The report is highly complimentary of the quality of pupil learning, the quality of teaching and the quality of the school’s curriculum planning process that inspectors observed over the two-day inspection. We will share the report with you when it is  published.

Improvements to the school buildings

The Department of Education and Skills recently granted the school 250,000 to carry out improvement work on our buildings. Work to improve fire safety , water supply and rooms for special education teachers is already underway.

When we return to school we can also look forward new fences in the playgrounds, some brightly painting classrooms and corridors, and new interactive screens in some classrooms.

New classrooms to be built

The Department of Education and Skills will shortly announce the granting of over €1 million to build a number of new classrooms and special education units. The planning of this major building project will then get underway.

Car parking at the school

The board of management is working hard to identify a solution to the car parking challenges at the school. We will update you when we have news.
