Twitter Policy
The school has a number of twitter accounts. The @SAttracta Twitter account is the main school twitter account and is managed by the principal and in-school leadership team. Tweets cover news and developments in the daily life of the school. Every class also has a designated class twitter account. For example the Junior Infant class account is @JuniorInfants_SAttracta. Class tweets celebrate and show case pupil learning. The class accounts are managed by the class teacher. Pupils do not send tweets. The accounts of the class teachers are linked to the website. This ensures that class tweets automatically appear on the school website.
Tweets will include images of pupils learning in school or participating in school activities outside of school. Pupil images will only be included in tweets with parental consent. Pupils will not be named in tweets.
Normally our Twitter accounts will be updated and monitored during school hours, Monday to Friday, but we’ll sometimes tweet outside of these hours.
We welcome and will read all @messages. However we won’t be in a position to reply to them all.
Please do not include personal/private information in your tweets to us. This is for the protection of your personal data and private information.
If you follow us, we will not automatically follow you back. This is to help our followers identify other Twitter accounts that we are following that might be of interest to them. If we do follow a Twitter account, it does not imply endorsement. If we unfollow, we are simply tidying our timeline.
Retweets may be used to highlight relevant appropriate announcements, particularly those by other Government bodies and educational organisations. Retweets do not imply endorsement. As a publicly funded body, we won’t be participating in party political debates/discussions.
Sending a message via Twitter will not be considered as contacting the school or class teacher. If you need to contact us or you need information please phone or email us.
